Post subject: beach volleyball in Shanghai

Hi all

Does anyone out there know if there's any popular place for a beach volleyball enthusiast to play around here?

Thanks!

Hey there,

Thats the same question i was about to ask!! So does anyone know?? However from what i've heard, locals in shanghai dont like having tanned skin, so i doubt if there would be anywhere that we can play beach volleyball!

Dino has a beach beside the man-made sea and a net that you can play beach volleyball...

Other than Dino's... NO BEACH VOLLEYBALL Sad Beleive me, I've tried! I havn't been to Dino's yet cause I heard the net area was pretty sad, great for drunking partying, but not worth the trip for real ball play. That said... I'm DYING to play some sand... If 4 of us can get together to go sheck it out, could be worth it.

Also... we (me and another foreign player) are looking into setting up a grass court. I've got a small park near my place in Pudong, or we might even try Century park and see whether thay would stop us for "hurting the grass". Will probably have to use an indoor net and buy some steel poles. If anyone wants to help out, just pipe up!

Before i forget... You need to pay 5rmb for a health card that they dont even check on you.. This is the same health card you used to enter swimming pool (public).. I dont know what is that card for.. There is a guy standing to refund that stupid card for 2rmb at the exit... You may keep that card for your swimming or any water sport.

So what I'm reading is that if I want to go on saturday, it'll cost 150 RMB to get in before 6pm, 75 after. Hmmm that a chunk of money to gamble unless we definelty have 4 people to play...

Wakk0- I'll pay your entrance if you buy my drinks! Razz

tks for the entrance fee.. I keep it in mind.. As for drinks, i prefer to treat you elsewhere.. i decide the drink.. Wink water?? haa

U r right on the 150rmb.. I went on Thursday and cost me 60rmb for the whole day. I start to 'rock&roll' at 0930am.. hee Wink
The slide start at 1030am.. some start later..
The big wave start at 1100am..

Although the signboard say 'NO FOODS & DRINKS IS ALLOWED', i can see people talking out foods, drinks, snacks, etc out of the locker at lunch time. I noticed they stuff everything into the big bag and say, ' i hv nothing'.. Pass they go..

Drinks and Foods are quite expensive relatively from outside. You can bring anything you want into the locker, not the pool.
Word of caution: DONT GET CAUGHT.. good luck, dude..

If you can sunbath on a cloudy, stormy day, then you are really, really white! I'll be sure to bring extra dark sunglasses! Laughing

Yes by all means stay at home... dont come share! This is one of those things you never have to apologize for keeping to yourself!
