Post subject: Xin Jin Qiao lu/Jin Gang lu, Pudong - What's it like?

I'm looking at getting an apartment on Xin Jin Qiao lu (新金桥)/ Jin Gang lu (金港路), Pudong. Was just wondering if anyone knows..

... if this is a reasonable area?
... does it have any sports centres or badminton courts nearby?
.. any metro stations nearby?

Pretty damm far out there. However far it may be, it's a stone's throw from the expatriate community of Jinqiao south where you can find Green City and Carrefour. There, you can find Megafit, two large supermarkets, tones of restaurants and coffee shops as well as scads of French and American expats.
Your new apartment, however is a bit out fo the way. There will be a new metro opening in the near future going from Gao Qiao to Ba Bai Ban all along Zhangyang Road so no problem getting to the boonies.

shanghaithunder, thanks a lot. I have visited the new apartment and do know it is a bit far from the town centre (I think it might even be like 11 miles to the airport!) but was hoping there would be some nice things in the area. I saw some very nice apartments in the area where I figured some "well-off" people must live, so I figured if it is good enough for them..Smile

It possibly sounds like a good investment if the metro is going to be built in the area...hmmm.

It's actually a very nice place to live in Shanghai. I live quite close on Hua Mu Road. I like the area. It's a great place to live with a family.
Having said that, I would never buy anything here. After the war you will never get your money back. That's why I am building a boat. Moving assets are always better than fixed assets.

Do you mean JinZhang lu? My office is out there, near the motel 168. SHThole of a place. I have been ot the office 3 times in last 4 months because there is nothing out there.

However, new Big Bamboo opening nearby soon, Flying Fox is good and of course the supermarkets and restaurants at Carrefour. might be ok if you are a family, but if single, no way.

I love Jinqiao. Sometimes its a bit lonely but I can't stand people around me all the time. Its just too damn crowded, unless you live in the french concession. I do miss puxi sometimes though.
