| Post subject: Pudong Airport - Latest Info |
With the snow causing chaos with both incoming and outgoing flights, how do we get the latest information on flight status and airport situation? |

so far, it seems like the best thing is to find out who's already waded into that mess out there, and ask them how it went.
Damn PuDong airport website doesn't say crap.
A couple of my friends made it out today to Japan, but it was a madhouse of ticket/check-in queues, with all available flights being pretty much booked up. |

I managed to fly out from Pudong airport this morning without much delay (20 min delay was caused by passengers who checked in but didn't board the plane). The airport was quite a bit less crowded than I had expected. |

How is the traffic from within Shanghai to Pudong? Any major problems? |

I took the Maglev last night no problem after flying back from Harbin. It was the five hour flight delay in each direction that sucked. It was funny to think that I traveled all the way to Harbin for snow and ice and apart from being a little colder it was bright and sunny there and snowing here. |

yeah I hear ya mate! I'd booked to go to Harbin on Saturday and even if my flight takes off without delay, I'm now wondering why I'd bother because I get enough of ice and snow over here! |

I'm working on the software at Pudong airport. Having a quick look at the system- seems there are 14 cancellations today
Flight no Destination
Y87979 LUX
RA411 KIX
2G8209 MAA
HO1145 HHA
FM9203 XIY
KA873 HKG
NW914 ANC
CK239 PEK
BA3466 STN
CX6857 HKG
CZ3572 WUH
MU5065 HKG
CK5067 SZX
F46611 BKK
Plenty of delays, but they change a lot and I ain't your damn flight board!
There is a call center at Pudong but (currently) it just seems to tell you the scheduled time anyway which is of no use.
Maglev still running, traffic pretty normal on the way in this morning. |

Heard conflicting information. Some said the airport is in a mess due to stranded passengers on delayed/cancelled flights. Others said the airport is as per normal as most flights have been flown albeit some delay. |

if it was your first time in Pudong airport, I think you'd say it was a mess. But if you'd been there before.... |

So is there anywhere we can get info on flight delays from? Have a gazillion hour flight tomorrow leaving at the crack of dawn, would really really prefer not to be stuck at the airport for hours for nothing. |

@angelgirl: don't worry! It's dry, no rain or snowfall anymore. So I expect all flights more or less in time |

Flew out of Hong Qiao today. 5pm flight cancelled / delayed. Switched to 5.30pm flight on China Eastern which was delayed and finally took off at 7.15pm. But honestly I think they're now using the weather as a catchall excuse. |

From what I've heard from different sources, it's going to snow again on Friday. Will try to call the airline tomorrow, see what they say. |

This is the first time i am going home for all pleasure in the last one year and i am already starting to pray it is not going to snow on Friday night/ sat morning again.
Can any of you please kindly update the Pudong airport situation on Friday night? Shall we call airport/ airline for the latest news in airport? |

Yup, me too - am flying out of here on Friday at 1130pm to be precise - and i am praying and crossing my fingers that there will be NO delays or cancellations... I cannot stay here for another day - need to be back in the land of sun, sand and sea!
Getting paranoid as have been told that there it will be snowing heavily this friday right through to sat....
i dont think calling Pudong a/p is going to help....
My bunch of friends left tonight for Singapore - and apparently its really crowded over at MU counter. and they have suggested or rather advise that i shld get there early, more so given when the traffic's going to be bad on Friday... So looks like i shld be at the a/p 4 hrs before take off time???? Kind of early, right?? |

haha, rest assure that you are going to wait for 10 hours in the departure hall considering together your delay hours. Sorry...
Taking magnetic train might be a better option, Chicane. |

I don't think getting there 4 hours early will help you at all. It just means if there's a delay you will end up spending twice that at the airport. Get there in good time but 4 hours is probably going too far. If you take the Maglev you won't need to worry about traffic - it's 7 minutes from the subway station at Long Yang.
Sadly snow is expected Friday so best of luck guys! |

hmmm very funny, YINLIN...
anyways i have decided i will arrange for pick up at 7pm, darn, thats bloody early! That wld be the earliest i have left for the a/p for any flights! I am very far away from the maglev & longyang.. Geez... stupid weather....
I cannot bear the thought to be here another day - i am mentally (and emotionally) prepared to go home this friday!
And with that, my sympathy goes out to those hundreds of thousands stuck in GZ... |
