| Post subject: Need business advice for small home based business |
Hi,
Is there such a thing as a small home based business here? I am wanting to start a small business that will only have one employee - me. There will be no need for an office just work from home. Can anyone please help me or give any advice?

Go for it if you have a good idea and think it will work.
Too many negative people in the world who will put you down and tell you reasons why you shouldn’t do it.
There’s load of idiots on this site who will tell you it’s illegal and you’ll get burning bamboo shoots stuffed under your fingernails if you get caught. The beauty of the modern business world is that for a lot of businesses all is needed is a laptop and a broadband connection, so the business can be run from anywhere.
Although it’s not legal to start your own business in the circumstances you mention, no-one is gonna come and close you down and deport you unless you start a machinery plant in your apartment and employ 400 people from out west. I assume you’ll still be able to get the same visa you are on now.
Most people I know here who run their own businesses started in a similar manner to yourself and once they found that their business idea was going to work, took the appropriate steps to fully legalize their business.
Do you think Bill Gates sat there in his garage all those years ago pondering to himself whether or not he had the correct business licence for his future business?
Go for it and worry about the legal side after it takes off. |

Well, I actually know not one, but two people who got in A LOT of trouble for being caught doing business without a license. I also know a lot of other people who have been doing it for years and never had a problem... |

dont worry keep working on your business even you have a home office and hire 1 person
when i first start my business, i even couldnt afford to hire anybody and home office and then one by one and get growing
i also help a lot of foreigners to do their own business from scratch
the most important thing is never give up and put 100% on your business then you will get successful
business idea is not the most important thing |

hi I have read with great interest the above threads. I'm wanting to start a jewellery business, I have tested the market a little and sent some back via yu yuan to my Sister with great response. I'm over here with my husbands job, but would like to take the next step and do this all above board. Does anyone know how to find out the costings and details I will have to take, or even a short buisness course I could take thanks |
