| Post subject: Import a Car to China |
So I found some threads but they are old. This being China, things change quickly... So can anyone offer some definitive information on how to import a car from the United States to Shanghai/China.
Car is a 2006 Volvo XC70

No used import cars from what I have been told..... |

From what I've been reading/told... it will be nigh impossible unless you're a diplomat. |

It actually is possible but they will value the imported car not at USA prices but at Chinese prices. So ie if used car in USA cost $10K (new one ie $40K), but here they will still value it for duty and VAT $40K (duty used to be 100%, dunno now). So import os used cars is economical nonsense |

Hi,
I am in the same situation. Has anyone imported a car, or does anyone know where I can find information on how to do it? I've heard import duties vary, depending on circumstances, and finding someone who has navigated this process before would be helpful. Shipping from US to Shanghai. Thanks,
