| Post subject: Putting a picture on Shanghaiexpat |
How do you put a picture on your account in Shanghaiexpat? I have tried to upload under the My Accounmt page but there always seems to be an error. I then compressed the file and tried to no avail. I am unsure of editing the pic to be 100 x 100. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks! |

the file should be 100x100 pixels or less, smaller than 28, or maybe 24kb in size, and be in .jpg or .gif format.
there's many free, simple graphics programs that will allow you to shrink the size of the picture and save it as a .jpg or .gif, paint shop pro is one of these. |

Another quick way to shrink a .jpg if you have a hotmail email account (or set up a hot mail account). When you upload your picture in hotmail, email it back to yourself or someone else and the kb's will be shrunk dramatically. I often find this much faster than using one of our in-house optimization programs. |

Open your file using Microsoft Photo Editor. Go to IMAGE, click RESIZE, you will see an arrow under units that show "inches", change that to PIXEL then adjust the width & height. Goodluck! |

Merged these two so that we can make it easy for people to find. |
