I would love to see that on the big screen here, imax or not. I hope IMDB is wrong because it only lists HK as having it and not the mainland.

Anybody know of a website that lists which Hollywood movies are coming to China? We're missing a lot of good blockbusters. |

It's so weird...it's like everytime a new Batman movie comes out I'm in a foreign country. When Batman Begins was released in '05 I was in France...and now I'm in China. Only this time, there's a big possibility it won't be shown in theatres here and I won't get to see it on the big screen.
Time to invest in a huge ass HDTV and a nice Bluray player : P |

'Dark Knight' sets weekend record with $155.34M
Sunday July 20 10:09 AM ET
LOS ANGELES (AP) A Warner Bros. executive says the Batman sequel "The Dark Knight" has taken in $155.34 million to top "Spider-Man 3" for best opening weekend ever at the box office.
The figures released Sunday show "The Dark Knight" more than $4 million ahead of the $151.1 million first weekend for "Spider-Man 3" in May 2007.
Studio distribution chief Dan Fellman says "The Dark Knight" also broke the "Spider-Man 3" record for best debut in IMAX large-screen theaters with $6.2 million. "Spider-Man 3" opened with $4.7 million in IMAX cinemas.

The opening beat Spiderman 3? I hope they bring it to the theaters here because watching something like this on the TV screen just won't cut it. |

Yeah this one is going to be an absolute cracker. They'd be stupid to not release it here. Probably just going through the localization (subtitles etc), and through the censors, might take a couple of weeks but I'm sure it'll screen here. |

It's playing at the UA IMAX in Hong Kong, if you're happening that way. |

I saw Batman Begins in China, but that's no guarantee the new Batman will be shown. |

hmm...HK, well it's getting close the mainland..i was talking about it with my chinese friend and he said it should be opening in china too and agrees that it only makes sense to have it here with a movie of that caliber
well let's keep our fingers crossed and hope it makes its way here in the next couple of weeks... |

Heard that it will not be shown because the gvt things its too dark, and has been alerted about the anarchy theme. Sigh. it is a sad day for us all that we won't be able to see a movie of this caliber on the big screen, and possibly not even on DVD as there won't be new DVDs in China until after the Olympics. Guess it's time to troll the internetz. |

The way things are going for Dark Knight, it should still be in the theaters for a few months. Maybe even more than half a year if you go to those bargain theaters. |

A friend of mine said he saw advertisements for Batman in the metro "last time he was here"... but I'm not sure how long ago that was. I've only been in Shanghai for about 2 weeks and the only thing I saw about it was an ad online for Batman Dark Knight Imax with Chinese letters on it, but that may have been for Hong Kong... probably?
I have been looking forward to this film since I saw the first one and I don't really "look forward" to many movies, so its kind of a drag if we miss out over here.
Hopefully it'll get here eventually... See you at the cinema |

*gasp* watching Batman in the bargain theatres?! Surely you jest!
Well I called the cinemas around Shanghai yesterday and they said "we don't know if it will be playing in China, we have not been told it will play in our theatres."
this SUCKS. |

even watching it in the bargain theaters is still better than watching it at home regardless of how sick one's home entertainment system is..
but i'm still keeping my hopes up before i head back for a break...hope to catch you all at the movies |

Watch it on IMAX.. and bring someone you can cuddle up to. It is one dark film... beer helps as well. |

Instead of Dark Knight, it seems we're getting the box-office bomb, Speed Racer, instead. |

Yes, sorry for any confusion.
Speed Racer had 120 million USD production budget not including marketing and it only brought in around 43 million USD domestically.
Speed Racer is totally considered a flop especially since it was done by the same guys that did the highly successful Matrix trilogy. |

I watched Dark Knight in HK yesterday. Almost brilliant, just a little over-long. |

Me too. The movie rocks! Heath Ledger was terrific. Agree about the length though.
Additionally, I saw it on a great big a** screen. Not an IMAX, but then again, IMAX screens are for IMAX films, and are therefore not an ideal venue for anything else.
