Post subject: Cheapest place to drink wine in jing an

American steak and eggs. Xikang Lu

Their shiraz (Argentina) is 69 for the whole bottle.
Actually a good tasting wine. Their pizza which is 80 Rmb cost more than the bottle of wine.

When I saw the thread title, that is the place I was going to suggest. Most the wines there are priced very reasonably. Cocktails are 20.

If you're able to drink a large quantity of wine, the best deal in town is the Friday wine buffet at Sasha's: RMB148 for all you can drink, 5.30pm-9.00pm, from a selection of usually a dozen different wines. The selection usually contains some very good, some disgusting and some rather so-so.

Go to any decent jap buffet, 150 rmb for an obscene amout of food and red wines, plus other varieties of alcohol unlimited...6.00pm-11.00pm.

You could always get a cardboard box and a bottle of Bai Jiu and get LOOSE on some street corner with some of the other bums.

Just because it is Red and comes in a bottle with a cork, doesn't mean it's "wine". Some people have a pallete.

There's great bargains at Aussino. I have bought many a decent table wine for 70 kuai. And if you want to splurge they are good value.

I am not sure I understood...

When you splurge for a good bottle...you spend 70?

On a related subject...is there such a thing as a drinkable Chinese-made wine? I mean one that a Westerner might find palatable. I'm prepared to accept that the Chinese might like the taste but the few I've sampled have turned my stomach.

Has anyone has tried red wine in a jap buffet, how was it? Is it palatable? Sake and plum wines are mostly paletable though, the ones I've tried.

Do a search. I was involved in a full on tasting panel about 2 years ago. EVERY wine we could find available in China. Out of the 110 or so wines we were "forced" to sample, maybe 1 dozen were drinkable and 3 or 4 were quite good.

Grace is good. Catai is ok.

Dynasty, Great wall etc... are nasty dangerous stuff.

^ depends on whose pallette I guess. Most wines at most places, even house wines at a few decent places are barely passable. A few good local/ domesticsw but yeah, DyNASTY is names that way for a reason...try drinking a afew. :S

Well, the guy was asking for cheap wine and 70 is at the splurge end of the scale for poor people.
