Post subject: Best Satellite TV package?

I have the DREAM package, but I think it pretty much sucks. On paper DREAM sounded good - HBO, ESPN, Star sports, ect. ect, however these are all the Asia variety and are quite hard to watch most of the time.

HBO Asia, and the other movies stations, only seem to only show 5+ yr old movies, none of the good HBO series I was hoping for.

ESPN and other sports stations...damn I am so sick of seeing football and related highlights. The other day had a 1hr cockfighting special on. Can I at least get some decent highlights from yesterdays baseball games?

Are there any better options? Anything that has at least a couple of US stations/programs? How is the HK package?

the best TV is available by the internet. get yourself a premium usenet account and download the newest US tv shows/movies. sat is only good for live sports but sports on the sats in Asia is limited. you can find baseball, basketball, hockey recorded and available on usenet.

When I watch Satellite, I prefer the HK satellite.
It has chinese subs, much better quality, and more channels.
Dream is still too compressed for my preferences.

Other methods, are noted above.
I also typically just do downloads these days...

Can somebody provide a brief overview of how to use a DSL connection to replace Sat TV (e.g. slingbox, downloads, etc.)

HAve done so on my own forum link at bottom of my signature.

However streaming in from north America is problematic. As long as you can put up with slow speeds and disruptions then it's OK.

But what sat is best depends on what content you want. I stream comcast from Colorado but let me tell you.... a lot of US content sucks...

Dream TV are taking the Thaicom5 KU Truevisions True Sports 1 channel and showing the live manchester United vs Wigan game on their satellite.

Talk about piracy

jeffry3....bit of a personal crusade?
We all know it's illegal.

hawks...You are pretty much out of luck.
Stream US feeds.....can do but slow.
Bit Torrent...do-able

Otherwise everything you get here on ANY Satellite (I have UBC Thai also) is the "Asia" version.
HBO Asia, CNN ASIA, ETC.....

But you should have 4 HBO channels Mr Plat10. HBO, HBO Hits, HBO Family, HBO Signature as well as MGM, Movie Hits and a few other movie channels.

Yes Truevisions has a very good line up, especially for Mrs Plat10.

I have every channel available on Thai, put that together with Multichoice South Africa, add in Australia Network and you probably the best combination of English content available.

Of course throw in the 70 odd Thai channels for Mrs Plat10 as well.
